Police have arrested a man who they say groped women on Metro trains. (Published Friday, Apr 1, 2011)

A man who police say was inappropriately touching women on Metro trains finally has been caught.

The arrest came after a woman posted a description of the man on the blog UnsuckDCMetro.

The woman said the suspect rubbed himself against her on a busy train.  She then saw him do the same thing to several other women.  She posted that the man would get on the train at the L'Enfant Plaza station and get off at the Pentagon station, always riding in the last car.

A Metro transit investigator who was monitoring the blog saw the posting and arrested the suspect.  The man has been charged with assault and battery.

The victim told NBC Washington that she’s grateful police pursued her tip and that the blog ran the information to alert other riders.

"I hope this successful outcome will encourage more women to speak up and report these kinds of crimes," she said.

News4’s Darcy Spencer also talked to the man who founded the UnsuckDCMetro blog.

“When people like that feel comfortable enough to come forward, and tell stories that may not be the most uplifting type of story, but leads to some action that makes Metro better, of course I’m very happy about that,” said the blogger, who has asked to remain anonymous.
