WASHINGTON -- U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man who drove up to the Capitol Tuesday afternoon to deliver a package to the president.

The blue pickup approached the Capitol's north barricade at about 4 p.m. and told officers he had a president for President Barack Obama, police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said. During questioning, he admitted to having a rifle in the truck.

Police closed the area near Delaware and Constitution avenues in Northwest during the investigation.

The truck was searched, cleared and towed. Charges against the man are pending.

No explicit threat against the president was made.
