Frederick police have charged a man with child abuse and assault after he allegedly tried to suffocate his 19-month-old son.
Police were called to a home on Fairfield Drive around 5:30 p.m. Friday and found 33-year-old Alton Ambush suffocating his son, authorities said.
After a struggle, police got Ambush to finally release the toddler, authorities said.
The child was taken to the hospital and was later released.
