Man Accused of Sex Crimes at Public Pool

Police want any other possible victims to step forward

A man from Germantown, Md., was accused of sexually abusing a minor, and now Montgomery County police are urging any other victims to step forward.

Of particular concern: The suspect has worked extensively with children over the past two decades.

Michel Rosenzweig, 52, is charged with five counts of third-degree sex offense. The charges stem from an incident in 2003 when a 10-year-old boy was inappropriately touched at a community swimming pool in Germantown, investigators said. The incident went unreported  until last month, when the victim, who is now 18, recognized the suspect. He was concerned because he saw Rosenzweig working with children, so he went to police with his story, police said.

In July 2003, Rosenzweig went into the shower area of the pool several times while the victim was bathing and inappropriately touched the victim, police said.

According to police, the victim did not see his abuser again for eight years, but this winter, he happened to visit Rosenzweig’s workplace, and saw that he was working as an aid for autistic children. When he recognized him, he took down his license plate number and called police.

Rosenzweig has a history of working with children, and now police want to know if he may have inappropriately touched any others.

Anyone who has concern about inappropriate contact between Michel Rosenzweig and a juvenile should contact Detective John Reinikka the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.
