Man Accused of Touching Children

David Alan Dobbs of Port Republic was accused of inappropriately touching young girls

Calvert police arrested a Port Republic, Md., man they believe touched at least five children inappropriately.

David Alan Dobbs, 54, has been charged with three counts of third degree sex offense, three counts of fourth degree sex offense, and three counts of third degree assault.

Calvert County authorities first investigated a sex offense reported to have occurred Jan. 16 at Nick’s of Calvert grocery store in Prince Frederick. A white male allegedly touched an 11-year-old girl inappropriately while inside the store. The girl was able to give police a suspect description.

Then, on April 6, two young girls reported being inappropriately touched at a Prince Frederick Walmart. They described a suspect similar to the one from the Jan. 16 incident, according to authorities.

While officials investigated these cases, they learned that police in St. Mary’s County were working on two cases very similar to those in Calvert County.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home of Dobbs, and seized several items of evidence during the search.

Dobbs has additional charges of child pornography pending. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office also charged Dobbs for other crimes committed in the county.
