Man, 22, Fatally Shot in Alexandria

Alexandria Police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year.

Officers were called to the 700 block of N. Fayette Street just after 11:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found 22-year-old Shakkan Elliot-Tibbs of Woodbridge suffering from a gunshot wound. Elliot-Tibbs was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

His girlfriend said Elliot-Tibbs planned to finish school, marry her and start a family.
