Six Red Line Stations Closed This Weekend

Six stations closed on Red Line

If you plan on using Metro this weekend to get around, you'll definitely want to plan ahead and give yourself some extra time. Six stations on the Red Line will be closed, and one short span on the Orange Line will be out of service.

The Brookland-CUA, Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will all close at 10 p.m. Friday night. They wonโ€™t reopen until the Monday morning rush.

During that time, crews will be laying new rail, making safety upgrades to the train safety control system, and installing cable for better cell phone service.

Free shuttle buses will run between the closed stations. The Fort Totten station will remain open, but only for use by Green and Yellow Line riders.

Buses will also replace trains between the Cheverly and Deanwood stations on the Orange Line. The stations will remain open, but no trains will run between the two. That section of track will also reopen in time for the Monday morning rush.
