A D.C. police sergeant has been placed on administrative leave, accused of beating up a bartender at a club in Southeast Washington.
Police say Sergeant Yurell Washington got into a fight with a woman working behind the bar at Georgena's on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Washington allegedly screamed expletives at her, then grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground. According to the police report, the officer had a relationship with the woman several years ago.
Washington was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
The bartender had some cuts and bruises in the fight.
