People living in the mid-Atlantic region use GPS navigation devices more than those in many other parts of the country, according to a study by one of the country's largest navigation services providers.

Maryland ranks first in the nation for GPS use, based on data collected by the navigation company Telenav. D.C. is second, while Virginia comes in seventh. The study focused on Telenav's more than 13 million subscribers around the country and showed Marylanders use GPS at a rate double the national average.

In a ranking of cities with drivers most likely to use GPS to find another way around traffic backups, Washington is second, behind Los Angeles.

The study also looked at which businesses people search for most. Walmart tops that list followed by Starbucks and Target. The most sought-out food is pizza, followed by Chinese food, then hamburgers.
