STERLING, Va. -- Loudoun County residents should be on the lookout for a man wanted by authorities for stealing meat.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office sent out an "important message alert" by e-mail with surveillance pictures of the suspect.

A man walked out of the Sterling Safeway before 4 p.m. July 20 without paying for four packages of meat tucked under his arm, according to the sheriff. He got into a waiting white Chevy Cavalier with Maryland plates 7EPM22 driven by another man slumped down in the driver's seat.

The Safeway manager told investigators that he believes the man had been in the store before and may live in the area.

Anyone who recognizes the man -- from a weekend cookout, maybe, or just an afternoon of grocery shopping -- should contact the sheriff's office.

Do not attempt confront the man yourself, he may be packing meat.
