Loudoun County Lobbies for FBI Headquarters

Seven potential sites are near Metro’s future Silver Line rail

Loudoun County is jumping in the race to become the home of the new FBI headquarters.

On Wednesday, the county formally offered eight sites for consideration. Seven of those locations are less than one mile from the future Silver Line Metro rail and near Dulles International Airport. Five locations are more than 200 acres in size.

In a letter to the FBI, Loudoun County Chairman Scott York said the county has an advantage with its strong technology presence.

Prince George's County is also lobbying for the future FBI headquarters. On Tuesday, the county proposed a 78-acre site near the Greenbelt Metro.

Fairfax County is also courting the FBI.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is working to convince the FBI to move to a new location within the District.

The deadline to submit a site to the FBI is March.
