Loudoun Co. Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Suspect in Multiple Burlgaries

Police arrested a man suspected of waking up a juvenile as she slept in her bedroom overnight after he was arrested for another burglary in the area, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff.

Deputies received the report of a man pulling the blanket of a sleeping girl in the 200 block of Marcum Court about 2:15 a.m. Friday. He fled, and jewelry was discovered missing, the sheriff said.

While they investigated, deputies received a report of a burglary in the 600 block of Giles place. They saw the suspect flee the home and run back into the home on Marcum Court, where a K-9 unit took the suspect into custody.

The sheriff also received a delayed report of a third burglary in the area, also in the 200 block of Marcum Court.

“The quick response to these burglaries and the coordination with our canine unit led to this suspect being taken into custody before he could commit more crimes in the county,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said. “I am proud of the work of our deputies, who quickly established a perimeter around this area, leaving the suspect little opportunity for escape.”

Jose Reyes-Benitez, 24, of Sterling, is charged with three counts of burglary and grand larceny. He’s being held without bond.
