Phyllis Randall, the chair of Loudoun County supervisors, reflects on her first months in office. (Published Wednesday, May 25, 2016)

It's a first for Phyllis Randall and a first for Loudoun County.

The new board chair for Loudoun County supervisors is fulfilling a campaign promise to make the annual "state of the county" speech to the public.

Randall says the speech includes facts and figures about where Loudoun County is financially, its economic development opportunities, its social safety net and law enforcement.

She says some of her speech will reveal her personal vision, to involve citizen volunteers in the county schools and government.

Randall also talked about the good, and the not as good, part of her first months in office.
