Lottery Set for DC Residents' Inauguration Tickets

D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton has received more than 3,500 requests for tickets

D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton is holding a lottery for tickets to President Barack Obama's second inauguration.

The lottery -- initially planned for Friday -- has been pushed back to Monday at noon in Holmes Norton's office.

Norton's office received more than 3,500 requests for tickets to the Jan. 21 inauguration. But she has fewer than 200 to distribute.

Two members of the D.C. National Guard will help Norton pull the winners in a random drawing. Winners will be notified by phone.

Residents who want to watch the inauguration ceremony from the National Mall don't need a ticket, but tickets are required to watch on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.
