OLD TOWN MANASSAS PORN SHOP
A retail store advertising adult DVDs, lotions, lingerie, toys and more hasn’t opened for business yet in Old Town Manassas, but it is drawing a lot of heavy opposition. KK’s Temptations has “opening soon” on its store front window at 9411 Battle St., but local officials are looking for ways to prevent the opening and have even set up public hearings for residents’ comments. CURRIE INDICTED
State Sen. Ulysses S. Currie (D-Dist. 25) of District Heights was indicted Wednesday on charges that he allegedly accepted nearly $250,000 in bribes from a grocery store chain. Currie, 73, was indicted by a federal grand jury on 18 counts including conspiracy, extortion and mail fraud. Prosecutors allege that from 2003 to 2008, he accepted monthly payments from Lanham-based Shoppers Food Warehouse Corp., in return for his positive influence on the grocer's behalf. (Gazette
 
TRAFFIC DUE TO TOLLS

Revenue for the toll road is down, officials say, partly because drivers, fed up with increasing costs, are using an already congested Route 28 as an alternative.  The price for two-axle vehicles to travel on the road has increased 400 percent since it opened 15 years ago. Base tolls are now as high as $4.50.  The private 14-mile road, owned by the Australian company, Macquerie Group, is considered one of the most expensive in the country. (Loudoun Times)
