POLICE SEARCH C&O CANAL FOR KIDNAPPING SUSPECT
Police in Cumberland, Md., said they have an arrest warrant for a man they believe kidnapped and choked a 6-year-old Cumberland girl, and police in Washington County were looking for the man Sunday afternoon along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal between Hancock and Big Pool, officials said. Local police were looking for Stephen Matthew Westfall, 44, of Cumberland, along the towpath because people in the area saw an individual who matched Westfall’s description, according to a 911 dispatcher and a Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. JUDGE SHUTS ROCKVILLE JEWISH CENTER
A Montgomery County judge has forced a Jewish center in a Rockville residential neighborhood to shut down, saying its rabbi transgressed the judge's rule on what days he could hold services. Judge Brian Kim ruled late last month that the rabbi violated a May 21 order that limited the Chabad Israeli Center to no more than 25 worshippers, and only on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, because the building did not meet fire safety rules. "TOP CHEF" STEAKHOUSE UP FOR AUCTION
The buildings that house Prime Steakhouse, the Fells Point restaurant that chef Timothy Dean launched in February as he was about to compete on television's "Top Chef," are to be sold at a bank foreclosure auction next month. The properties, at 1717, 1719 and 1721 Eastern Avenue, are scheduled to be sold Sept. 16, according to a listing on Jonathan Melnick Auctioneers' website. (Baltimore Sun)
STARBUCKS IN THE GARDEN
Local gardeners hope to take a bag of old coffee grounds with them when they get their Starbucks grande skinny vanilla ice coffee to go. Many gardeners use coffee grounds in their garden because they make good mulch. Members of the Potomac Village Garden Club hope that all cafes and coffee shops can start giving away their old coffee grounds to gardeners to recycle.

CANINE MASSAGES
Jane Rainier has spent the past few months trying to get Anne Kennedy's dog to live up to his name. So far, she's on the right track, although there's still work to be done before he's truly Tranquil. Kennedy contacted Rainier, who specializes in canine massage, this spring to work with her rambunctious year-old golden retriever, who is called Quil for short. (The Capital)
