The following stories have been hand-selected by the Assignment Desk at News4:

"NO BOOT FILLING ON COUNTY TIME"
Gazette: "Montgomery County government employees would be prevented from seeking charitable donations along county roadways during their work hours under legislation approved by a County Council committee Monday."

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION AND AN iPad
Frederick News Post: "Without an iPad, Karly Reigel, an incoming freshman at Hood College, may have been studying elementary and special education elsewhere. "I had already liked Hood, and when I heard they were giving away iPads I was like, 'I'm definitely coming here,'" Reigel said. The Reading, Pa., native joined 106 other first-year students on campus Monday afternoon at the first of the college's three summer orientations."

NORM'S IS STAYING IN VIENNA
Washington Post: " Just when you thought chain stores were taking over the planet, chalk one up for little Norm’s Beer and Wine store in Vienna. And maybe give a little credit to the chain grocer that once threatened them, The Fresh Market, which has now agreed to let Norm’s stay in its cozy spot just off Maple Avenue at Branch Road."
