MOURNERS GATHER FOR LOVE'S FUNERAL
A day before Mother's Day, a local mother has to lay her daughter to rest. Funeral services for Yeardley Love began at 10 a.m. Saturday in Baltimore at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. The cathedral reserved 50 seats for immediate family, 30 seats for the college lacrosse team and more than 300 for Love's Notre Dame Prep family. 11 News Reporter Dave Collins reported that people began arriving at the Cathedral around 8 a.m. Members of the Notre Dame lacrosse team wore ribbons in orange, their school color, in their hair. Love is a graduate of the prep school. Orange is the school color.

DULLES EMERGENCY DRILL
Airport officials say there will be an emergency preparedness exercise at Dulles International Airport. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says it's conducting the drill on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The agency says the simulated aircraft accident will test the emergency operations plan at Dulles. It also will give airport and emergency response crews hands-on training.
Officials say there will be many emergency vehicles around Route 28 and Route 50 near the airport and smoke may be visible. But they say the exercise will not affect normal airport operations.

LOCAL WATER WINS TASTE TEST
Forget bottled water. Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission tap water was voted "best in taste" in a competition by the Chesapeake section of the American Water Works Association. It marks the second year in a row that WSSC took the honor, edging out competitors from Maryland, the District of Columbia and Delaware. WSSC nearly missed the entry deadline when the car transporting the water overheated. Richard Tripp, the operator at the WSSC Patuxent Water Filtration Plant, poured the sample into his radiator and called the plant to send another sample to Baltimore for the competition.

TAYE DIGGS SALUTES TRAINS
Actor Taye Diggs is vouching for Amtrak and helping to lead National Train Day events this weekend. Diggs, a train fan, kicked off festivities Friday in New York, then boarded a train to Washington for events on Saturday. Amtrak also is hosting exhibits and activities in Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles on Saturday. They will feature options for high-speed rail and the fuel efficiency that trains offer over planes and cars. Historic train cars will be on display, as well as a look at the history of dining on trains.
This year marks the 141st anniversary of the first transcontinental railroad.

DUPONT CIRCLE DATE NIGHT
President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, went out for dinner on a pleasant evening in Washington. The first couple arrived Friday at Komi restaurant, near Dupont Circle, surprising diners and passersby who cheered and took photos. The restaurant serves mainly Greek and Mediterranean dishes. The Obamas will see little of each other this weekend. The first lady is the commencement speaker Saturday at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The president on Sunday will deliver the commencement address at Hampton University in Hampton, Va.
