The following stories have been hand-selected by the Assignment Desk at News4:

KIDS RODE IN TRUNK
Police found two girls in the trunk of a car Sunday in Hermanville, according to charging papers filed against the driver who identified one of the children as her own offspring and the other as a niece. Neither of the children, age 10 and 12, suffered any injuries, police said. (The Enterprise)

FREE CONDOMS
The run-down old trailer isn’t much to look at. But the Adolescent Health Center is must-stop shopping for teenagers in search of condoms. Nestled behind a tennis court, the facility commonly known as the "Teen Clinic" is sandwiched between a strip mall and the Minnie Howard football field. According to nurse practitioner Linda Walters, teens frequently arrive at the out-of-the-way location looking for birth control. (Alexandria Gazette Packet)

MARINES GOING GREEN
Each time a gallon of diesel fuel or fresh water makes its way to Marines in forward operating bases in Afghanistan, it puts them at risk. That's because supply convoys are vulnerable to roadside bombs, the No. 1 killer of U.S. troops in the war zone. To help counter the threat, Marines are going green--and it has nothing to do with uniforms. They're adopting green technologies to stretch supplies of fuel, water and energy, thereby limiting Marines' exposure on the road.(Fredericksburg.com)

THIS BUD'S NOT FOR BABY
The novelty baby bottles were supposed to be gag gifts, according to the local business' now-defunct Web site. For $19.99, someone could buy two plastic, 16-ounce baby bottles with working nipples that resembled bottles of Budweiser and Miller Lite."You guys know this is for fun, right?" read a cached version of the Web site, which featured several pictures of the "Bunwiper" and "Little Tikes" bottles. Anheuser-Busch, however, isn't laughing. (The Capital)

SOCIAL SAFEWAY SET TO REOPEN
Georgetowners, take note. The aptly nicknamed "Social Safeway" will open in a new building May 6, after a complete renovation. The Safeway is bound for 1855 Wisconsin Ave. NW. It will be open 24 hours a day and occupy 71,067 square feet. It will be one of Safeway Inc.'s remodeled "lifestyle" stores, with more ambiance and a greener build-out than a traditional location. There will be a specialty wine and cheese selection, a bakery, a sit-down sushi bar, brick-oven pizza and other amenities. (Washington Business Journal)

DC HAS THE MOST CYBER-CRIMINALS
Here's a factoid you might not know -- D.C. has the most cyber-criminals per capita: 116 for every 100,000 people.  The Internet Crime Complaint Center's 2009 Internet Crime Report ranks Maryland 19th (29.72 perpetrators per 100,000) and Virginia 28th (24.12 perpetrators per 100,000). (wtop.com
