"STATE HIGHWAY BABY"
The Capital: "Lekeisha and Kirby Love were much closer to the hospital this time when the newest member of their family entered their lives. Just before midnight Monday, Lekeisha Love gave birth to daughter Keilani from the comfort of the minivan parked between exits 21 and 22 on the Baltimore Beltway. It was the second time this week that a couple from Severn had a child while on the shoulder of a state highway, and the second time one of the Loves' kids arrived before they could get to the hospital."

6TH GRADERS ROCK THE 930 CLUB
Loudoun Times: "Young Loudouners have been rocking on the instruments recently. Four of them got to unleash their fury at the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C. The Dead Hawks claimed third place in the middle school division of Bach 2 Rock’s Battle of the Bands on Jan. 8 The band, consisting of four 6th-graders from Loudoun County, chose to go with some driving rock, playing “Crazy Train,” as made famous by Ozzy Osbourne, and their original song “Skate”." 

KENNEDY CENTER TAKES OVER OPERA
AP/wtop.com: "The Kennedy Center announced Thursday it will take over most operations of the Washington National Opera because of the music company's financial troubles. Under an affiliation agreement, the opera will remain a separate nonprofit with its own board of trustees. However, the Kennedy Center will take over its business, fundraising and marketing functions. The arrangement beginning July 1 is intended to ensure the opera's survival after several years of financial shortfalls."
