    Harold Brown Jr.,  a resident of Fairfax and an agent for the Central Intelligence Agency, will be laid to rest in Massachussets today.

    Brown, 37, was one of seven Americans killed Dec. 30 in the Khost province of Afghanistan when a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the U.S. military base there.

    A Fairfax father was among seven CIA workers killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.

    He lived in Fairfax, Va., with his wife of fifteen years, Janet (Dill) Brown and their three children, Paul D. Brown, 12, Magdalena E. Brown, 11, and Claire H. Brown, 2.

    Brown, who grew up in Massachusetts, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from George Washington University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.

    He was a member of the United States Army and served in Bosnia, the Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also worked for Shareholder.com in Maynard and SAIC in England.

    According to his family's statement, Brown enjoyed travelling around the world with his family and was an avid runner and fitness enthusiast, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

    Following cremation, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. A procession will follow to West Cemetery in Bolton for burial. No calling hours are to be held.Brown is also survived by his parents, Harold E. Brown, Sr. and Barbara (Lechleiter) Brown of Bolton; two sisters, Regina Brown of Clinton; Paula Rich and her husband Paul of Bolton; mother-in-law, Marcia Dill of Toronto, Canada; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends, said a statement from his family.
