A lightning strike sparked a fire early Sunday morning at the Marvin Chapel Methodist Church in Mt. Airy, Md.
At 5 a.m. Frederick County fire fighters were dispatched to 5101 Woodville Rd. for a two-alarm fire at the church. Fire fighters battled the blaze for roughly three and a half hours. They were finally able to clear the scene at 8:30 am.
There was no one in the church at the time of the fire, but one fire fighter was taken to the hospital for a shoulder injury.
Damage to the church is valued at $100,000.
