Some of the area’s strongest men and women gathered to push, pull and show off their strength in Virginia.

It was all part of the second annual Capital Classic Strongman Challenge in Arlington.

More than 50 competitors from all up and down the East Coast took part in different events, lifting items as heavy as 700 pounds.

There were lifters of all shapes and sizes, men and women, rookies and veterans at this event.

The winners in each class (Novice, 200, 231, and heavyweight for men; lightweight and heavyweight for women) qualified for the National Strongman Competition later this year.
