Leesburg Buildings Evacuated After Gas Leak

Two buildings in Leesburg, Va., were evacuated due to a significant gas leak Friday morning.

A construction vehicle damaged a gas control valve for a large, pressurized gas line at the intersection of Sycolin Road and Tavistock Drive about 7:30 a.m.

Sycolin Road was closed between Battlefield Parkway and Leesburg Airport while Washington Gas contained the leak, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue said.

Repairs were completed by about 9:30 p.m., and Sycolin Road reopened.

No injuries were reported.
