Lane Closures Near ICC To Impact Afternoon Commute

Repaving work on roads near the InterCounty Connector in Montgomery County will affect the drive home for many evening commuters over the next few weeks.

One lane of Southbound Columbia Pike between Briggs Chaney Road and East Randolph/Cherry Hill Roads in Fairland will be closed starting at 5 p.m. Monday, according to WTOP. Crews will close a second lane starting around 10 p.m.

The work is expected to continue until August 26, 2011.

There will be some relief for drivers. Lanes will reopen in time for the morning commute and all lanes will remain open on Fridays and Saturday nights.

There will be similar repaving work on the northbound side of Route 29 starting next month.

The work is part of the ongoing ICC project which is expected to be completed in early 2012.
