Landover House Fire Leaves Two Families Displaced

Two families are left displaced after a fire erupted early Monday afternoon in a Prince George's County duplex.

Authorities say the fire appears to have started on the first floor of one home before spreading to the attic and eventually spreading into the second home.

Three people, including a grandmother,  were in one home where the fire started, and a pet poodle was in the second. All escaped without injury.

Firefighters are still working to determine the cause of the blaze and the full extent of the damage.

If your household cannot afford a smoke alarm, the Prince George's County Fire Department urges you to call 301-864-SAFE, so a firefighter can install a free one.
