Low-Cost Airline Debuts at Reagan National

Sun Country Airlines made its inaugural flight from Ronald Reagan National Airport to Lansing, Mich., and Minneapolis, Minn., Friday after winning a much sought after gate at the airport.

The small carrier based out of St. Paul, Minn., plans to offer low-fare, round-trip flights to both cities.

"This service will provide a great benefit to customers in Washington, D.C., by providing low fares and the great award-winning service Sun County is known for,” said Stan Gadek, president and CEO.

Sun Country will initially offer six round-trip flights a week to Lansing and Minneapolis. It will begin daily service to those cities beginning May 1.

Sun Country’s parent company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month after filing for bankruptcy protection in 2008. The airline flies primarily from Minneapolis to about 30 destinations in the U.S, Mexico and Caribbean.
