If animals could talk, it's a shaggy dog tale that Fairfax County Animal Control Officers would like to hear.
Instead, they are trying to solve a mystery by sharing some before and after pictures of a male Bichon Frise found running loose Tuesday near Rolling Road and Delong Drive in the Springfield area.
Residents helped capture the dog, it's fur thick and matted. Next stop: A vet where he was treated for several ailments.
Animal Control officers think the pup is about 3 years old. They'd like to hear from the dog's owner or anyone who recognizes him now that he's had his makeover.
He's described as lovable, but afraid.
