Kings Dominion Not Resurrecting Miner Attraction

A Virginia theme park says it won't resurrect a Halloween attraction that depicts an underground mine disaster next season.

Kings Dominion says, as part of its regular rotation, it doesn't intend to operate the "Miner's Revenge'' Halloween Haunt attraction next year.

The United Mine Workers of America had raised concerns about the attraction, calling it an insult to the memories of the thousands of miners who have died in America's mines.

The attraction portrayed miners who were left entombed deep underground following a mine disaster. The miners are searching for the men who left them to die and get revenge.

Kings Dominion said in an email statement that the attraction was not designed, nor intended, to depict a specific situation.

The Halloween Haunt event ended Sunday.
