Kids in 3 States Join Obama's Healthy Eating Push

Students from West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland are going to the White House to meet First Lady Michelle Obama and help spread the word about healthy eating.

Children from North Elementary School in Morgantown will join students from Magnolia Elementary in Joppa, Md., and Linwood Holton Elementary in Richmond on Wednesday, The State Journal reported.

They'll tour the White House kitchen as part of an announcement about marketing healthier foods to children.

The Produce Marketing Association and the Partnership for a Healthier America are also participating.

The schools were chosen because of their healthy snack options.

North Elementary planted a garden in 2011 that produces fruits and vegetables, including snake beans, black radishes and strawberries. Teachers use it for lessons about math, science, reading, writing and health.
