Keep Off the Grass

The Montgomery County Council approved a parking plan banning cars from being parked on front lawns.

The proposal aproved Tuesday afternoon also prohibits homeowners from keeping large commercial vehicles on their driveways.

The county already banned parking those vehicles permanently on the street.

The plan applies to trucks that are 21-feet long or more than 8-feet high and also prevents property owners from paving over their lawns.

Officials said they've received several complaints of food trucks and tow trucks parking in Aspen Hill, Rockville, Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Under the plan, violators could be fined $500 for each day not in compliance.
