Jonathan Dawkins, 32, Found Guilty in Fatal Stabbing Near Shaw Neighborhood

A 32-year-old D.C. man has been found guilty for stabbing another man to death near the Shaw Metro station two years ago.

Police said CT scan technician Dwayne Brisbon, 33, was on his way home from Marvin, a bar on 14th Street NW around 2 a.m. on May 1, 2012. Brisbon pulled over to check on a person he thought he recognized in the 400 block of Florida Avenue NW.

Jonathan Dawkins, who was with that person at the time, became upset and punched Brisbon's car. Brisbon got out, and their fight turned physical. At some point, police say Dawkins took out a knife and stabbed Brisbon in the neck and upper left bicep.

Brisbon attempted to drive himself to a hospital, crashed into nearby Shaw's Tavern and later died.

Dawkins is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 8 and could face a maximum of 30 years in prison.
