Infant Killed in Driveway Accident

A mother's instinct to save her child resulted in a tragic accident. Police say she ran after her 3-year-old with her infant in her arms, but forgot to put her car in park.

A six-month-old baby has died after an accident in Laurel, Md.

A woman was parking in the driveway of a home in the 8300 block of Montpelier Drive around 9 a.m. when a three-year-old jumped out of the car jumped out and ran to the back of the vehicle.

The mother, with an infant in her arms, went after the child but neglected to shift the car into park, said police.

The car then rolled backwards and hit the mother, baby and child. Medics arrived and performed CPR on the infant, who died. The mother and child were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
