5,000 tickets for seats in the bleachers along the inaugural parade route went on sale at 1 p.m. Friday. They were all gone in under a minute.

There were 5,000 tickets for sale at $25 each.  Of course, tickets are already finding their way onto Craigslist.  Click here to see what they're going for.

The vast of the tickets were sold  online.  Purchasers could have bought up to four tickets each.  Only a small number of tickets were purchased by calling Ticketmaster.

Each ticket gets you into a specific bleacher section, but not to a specific seat, according to the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Ticket holders must be in their seats by 1 p.m.  The parade starts between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Four years ago, you basically HAD to have a ticket to see the parade because most of the parade route was taken up ... MORE >
  • Tom Wednesday, Jan 14 at 11:40 AM FLAG COMMENT So, isn't there a bill in the House to make selling inauguration tickets illegal, and may be passed, say, imminently? I understand that this is the parade only; but did they perhaps forget to specify in the bill?
  • Shellie Bell Friday, Jan 9 at 9:57 PM FLAG COMMENT U know I bet a folks purchased these tickets in bulk to sell them on Ebay. That is really unfair. U should have only purchased what you were going to use but of course the greedy wallets are going to find a way to make a quick buck.
  • Juliette Friday, Jan 9 at 6:14 PM FLAG COMMENT This is the biggest event in US history in quite awhile obviously, so it was really a hit or miss. I am not surprised that seats sold out in the timing that they did. I'll be watching from the comfort of my home. We may not be able to be there for the events in person which stinks, but seeing it on television, and being a part of the events in some way (even if not in person) is good enough for me personally. This is a wonderf ... MORE >
