Howard Officials to Honor 2 Officers for Bravery

Howard County officials will honor two police officers who managed to make arrests after they were struck and injured by an impaired driver.

On the evening of Nov. 21, Maryland Transportation Authority police Cpl. Timothy Morandi and Officer Jonathan Slusar pulled over a suspected stolen vehicle in Elkridge. They were lined up in separate patrol cars when a pickup truck rammed one of the cars, which then hit the second one.

Morandi suffered a broken leg, and Slusar also sustained leg injuries. But Slusar was able to help Morandi and maintain control of the drivers of both vehicles until more officers arrived.

County Executive Ken Ulman will honor the two officers for their bravery on Thursday evening at a police union hall in Middle River.
