Howard Co. Motorist Dies In Accident

An 87-year-old man has died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident in Howard County Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say that Harold Mazmanian of Ellicott City was behind the wheel of his Chevrolet pickup truck when it slid off the road and struck a tree beside the eastbound lanes of Maryland Route 99, near Old Saint Johns Lane.

Mazmanian was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say that Mazmanian's failure to stay in his lane and his failure to reduce his speed due to rainy weather conditions were the primary causes of the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
