Howard Co. English Teacher Arrested on Prostitution Charge

An English teacher at a Howard County, Maryland high school was arrested and charged with prostitution and sexual solicitation of a minor, police and the school said Thursday.

Richard Kemp is an English teacher at Glenelg High School. He was arrested Thursday in Montgomery County.

The school sent home a letter to parents, saying a long-term substitute had been secured for Kemp's classes. Counselors are being brought in for students who need them.

The letter, from principal Karl J. Schindler, also said the school was supporting the police investigation and asked parents to share any information that could help the investigation with Montgomery County police.

The Howard County police confirmed to WBAL-TV that they are investigating similar charges involving Kemp.
