Hot Tide Sold at Barbershop: Police

Four arrested in Prince George’s County

Stolen bottles of Tide liquid laundry detergent have been sold out of the back of a barbershop, Prince George’s County police said.

Police received a tip about the alleged side business at the Nouveau Hair Beauty Salon and Barber Shop in Chillum, Md.

In addition to the stolen Tide, people could buy other hot items.

“They could get stolen liquid Tide, counterfeit designer jeans and dozens of bottles of Dove beauty wash,” said Julie Parker, of Prince George’s County police. “These are items that were stolen from local retailers.”

Police arrested Samuel Afoakwah, Gerard Brunn, Damien Marbury and William Smith. There are charged with theft.

More arrests are expected.

The theft of liquid soap like Tide is a national problem. Some retailers won't carry the laundry detergent because it's such a popular target for thieves.
