A horse was safely rescued from a Loudoun County pool Tuesday morning.

Officials said the horse wandered into the yard of a home in the 36000 block of Jeb Stuart Road in Purcellville -- it didn't belong to the homeowners.

The horse apparently walked onto the pool's cover then got stuck in the water below.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and Department of Animal Services worked with Fire-Rescue personnel to rescue the horse.

Crews cut a path in the pool cover and led the horse to safety.
