Holiday Travelers Getting Help on the Road and Metro

Construction suspended for holiday season

Millions are hitting the road this holiday weekend, and travel will be a bit smoother than usual.

D.C., Maryland and Virginia have all suspended construction for the holidays.

VDOT is also suspending lane closures in temporary work zones from noon on Monday until the day after Christmas.

It's also going to be a much better ride on the Metro.

This weekend and next weekend, there will be no track work on four of the five metro lines.

The only track work will be taking place on the Green Line, where there's single-tracking between Greenbelt and College Park so crews can test new rail cars.

Normal weekend track work will resume the weekend after New Year's Day.
