    A 5-year-old girl is in stable but critical condition after she was attacked by as many as three dogs Wednesday evening in Charles County. (Published Thursday, April 4, 2013)

    The Charles County home where a young girl was mauled by dogs has a history of animal problems.

    News4 has learned that Animal Control officers were called to the Bennsville home last year to remove a dozen dogs from the property. But when officers arrived, the dogs were gone.

    On Wednesday, a five-year-old named Savanna was viciously attacked by two dogs in the backyard of that home. It is owned by the boyfriend of the girl’s mother.

    Two dogs, a Presa Canario and an English bulldog have been put down. The little girl remains in serious condition.
