A 5-year-old girl is in stable but critical condition after she was attacked by as many as three dogs Wednesday evening in Charles County.

The Charles County home where a young girl was mauled by dogs has a history of animal problems.

News4 has learned that Animal Control officers were called to the Bennsville home last year to remove a dozen dogs from the property. But when officers arrived, the dogs were gone.

On Wednesday, a five-year-old named Savanna was viciously attacked by two dogs in the backyard of that home. It is owned by the boyfriend of the girl’s mother.

Two dogs, a Presa Canario and an English bulldog have been put down. The little girl remains in serious condition.
