Healthy Schools Act Could Benefit Local Farmers, Too

A bill designed to improve D.C. children's eating habits could also benefit area farmers.

Councilwoman Mary Cheh introduced the Healthy Schools Act last week, the Washington Post reported.

The bill would increase exercise that students at D.C. public and charter schools get and improve food service.

Schools would be required to serve students produce from local growers.
