HOV Lanes on I-95 to Be Closed Over Weekend

Weekend travelers on Interstate 95 in northern Virginia won't have access to the HOV lanes this weekend - and on most weekends throughout the spring and summer.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the high-occupancy vehicle lanes on I-95 and I-395 from Friday night through Sunday morning.

VDOT says similar weekend closures are expected throughout the spring and summer except on selected travel dates and holidays.

The entire lanes will be closed, from the District of Columbia line to Dumfries. The closures will allow for crews to do work that's needed for the 8-mile extension of the express lanes into Stafford County. The new express lanes are scheduled to open in early 2015.
