Maryland Delegate Raffling Off Assault Rifles

Proceeds to fund work for gun rights, re-election campaign

A fundraising effort by Maryland Delegate Don Dwyer is stirring up controversy.

He's selling raffle tickets for two assault rifles, according to a WBAL radio report. An AR-15 and AK-47 are up for grabs. The proceeds from the raffle will be used to support guns rights and his re-election campaign.

The winning raffle tickets will be drawn July 6. Tickets for the raffle are available online for $10.

Dwyer voted against Maryland’s newly passed gun law, which bans 45 types of assault weapons.

Dwyer, a Republican from Anne Arundel County, was also in the news in August 2012 when he got into a boating accident. He later admitted he was driving the boat after drinking alcohol. He and six  other people were injured.
