Gunfire on the GW Parkway

U.S. Park Police believe they now know how an SUV was struck by gunfire on the George Washington Parkway just after midnight Thursday near the Chain Bridge in Arlington, Va.

US Park Police confirm a shooting occurred on the GW Parkway at about 1:30 a.m. near Theodore Roosevelt Island.

Park Police said two cars were traveling north on the Parkway and a shot was fired from one car to the other.

The woman driving the SUV pulled into a gas station and called police. The bullet shattered the back window.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
