Guardian Angels have dropped into communities around the country, acting as a provisional crime-fighting force.

You may notice the Guardian Angels patrolling Adams Morgan on weekends this summer. The patrols start Friday night and will continue every weekend until Labor Day, East Coast Director and DC Chapter leader John Ayala said in a statement.

The summer weekend patrols are the result of requests from “dozens of business owners and residents”  who asked for help keeping the peace in Adams Morgan, Ayala said.

The all-volunteer group plans to have a dozen members at a time patrolling the party-heavy neighborhood in hopes of deterring fights and crime, Ayala said, adding that the Guardian Angels will work in partnership with MPD, and will report all incidents to the police.
