Protesters are calling on Wal-Mart and other stores to stop selling food from a Thailand-based seafood exporter that's been linked to slavery.
An Associated Press investigation found that Thai Union has contracted with firms that use slaves to peel shrimp. Thai Union supplies shrimp to major U.S. retailers including Wal-Mart, Whole Foods and Petco, along with restaurants such as Red Lobster and Olive Garden.
On Wednesday, activists will picket outside the Wal-Mart in downtown D.C.
A group calling itself D.C. Residents Against Slavery says the store is still selling shrimp from Thai Union. They'll ask customers not to buy the brands associated with the supplier.
Thai Union has said it will sever ties with poorly regulated contractors that have been responsible for much of the labor abuse.
