Grocery Store Security Guard Shot in Laurel

Police searching for two gunmen

Police in Prince George’s County are searching for two gunmen who shot a security guard at a Laurel grocery store Thursday night.

The men stormed into the Bottom Dollar Food Store on Laurel Bowie Road around 8 p.m. Authorities say there was a struggle, and the suspects wrestled the guard’s gun away from him.

It’s not clear if the guard was shot with his own gun.

The gunmen fled in a light blue SUV.

The security guard is in serious condition, but is expected to survive. No one else was hurt.

The store was open at the time of the shooting and investigators are interviewing customers who may have witnessed the shooting. They are also reviewing surveillance video.
