A robber held up a 7-Eleven in broad day light with his own recycling bag to stash the cash. (Published Wednesday, Jun 16, 2010)

A big guy waving a green recycling bag held up a 7-Eleven store in Vienna, Va., in broad day light, authorities said.

Carrying his own recycling bag was a good prop. But it was overshadowed by the black mask covering his face.  Except at Halloween, someone wearing a mask and entering a convenience store is never a good sign.

He was clearly caught on surveillance video for all to see at 3 p.m. last Sunday. After waving his eco-friendly bag around, he pulled a gun on the clerk behind the counter. The worker was shaken and didn’t give him any trouble. The green bandit stashed the cash from the register in his politically correct bag.

Then he went into the back office where another store employee was trying to hide and beat the man with bottles, authorities said.  In the ensuing skuffle, his gun fired. Fortunately, no one was hit, and somehow his mask came off his head.

He kicked the two employees out of the store and split in an unidentified getaway car.

The clerk is expected to be OK.
