A female goat is recovering at Anne Arundel Animal Control after a child found the animal with a heavy chain around her neck, according to Anne Arundel County police.
An 11-year-old child found the female goat, named Tuscany, wandering on River Road in Linthicum, Md., Thursday. The goat had a chain around her neck weighing more than 20 pounds. The chain became embedded in her neck over time, police said.
The child’s family took Tuscany to Animal Control Friday for help removing the chain. Animal Control was able to surgically remove the chain and Tuscany will remain at Animal Control as she recovers, according to police.
Animal Control is looking for the owners of the animal and wants to know how Tuscany came to have a chain around her neck, police said.
